Welcome to my blog. Well, one of my many blogs but this one will be devoted to Spain and my journey to get there.
Before I get started, I want to preface this post with a bit about me and a few words about my goals here. I, probably like you, am in the process of applying for English Teaching Grants and English Teaching Jobs in Spain. I've wanted to live and teach abroad since college. Unfortunately during my university days, I never had the opportunity to study abroad so this is my "second chance" per se. I'm 25 now and have been working in Advanced Media (that means internet media) for almost 4 years in New York City.
Granted I love New York and it will always be my home, I've always had an affinity for Spain, Portugal the people culture and the languages. I, myself, am 1/2 Portuguese so in addition to having cultural ties to the land of Iberia, my passion for Latin culture has never faded and I want to integrate my teaching experiences into my future career. What does that mean exactly? I'm not quite sure yet. But what I do know is that I have goals and teaching English in Spain is a fruitful experience that I hope will be a stepping stone in achieving the goals I've set for myself.
With that, it brings me to the purpose of this blog. There are tons of resources, forums, articles, blogs and people teaching and talking about teaching in Spain giving guidance and information on teaching English and it can become very overwhelming. Though I find many of these sites to be helpful, I am also finding that a lot of these sites are lacking and some information is outdated. With my blog, I hope to provide you with helpful resources, and comments as I trek through the application processes, preparing to go and living abroad en Espana.
